                                      continued...

The low humidity also dries out your mucus membranes!

When your mucus membranes are moist they trap cold viruses, and the like - before they can enter your body!

If you have to work in such an environment drink a large glass
of water -  every two hours , or so. this will help to keep your
  mucus membranes moist and able to trap cold viruses.

The common cold and other such infections tend to infect your upper - respiratory tract, nose, throat, etc;

Exercising- strenuously, for more than an hour - a- day
actually increases your chances of catching a cold, by causing
an infection in your upper-respiratory tract, according to research; but moderate exercising, such as walking, dancing, aerobics,
Tai Chi, etc; 3-times a week, will help to defend you against
the common cold.

Keep away from people with coughs, colds and sneezes.

A sudden sneeze releases germs, viruses and other such infections - at well over 100 Miles an Hour!
Ordinary ‘airborne’ cold spores can travel about 3-feet.
